پژوهش فوق با روش کیفی و رویکرد توصیفی، تحلیلی در پی پاسخ گفتن به این سوال است: استراتژی ایالات‌متحده در حوزه سیاست‌گذاری خارجی برای تثبیت موقعیت هژمونی جهانی خود در سطح سیستم بین‌الملل با گریزی به‌ مسئولیت‌های حقوق بین‌المللی آن بعد از طرح بین‌الملل گرایی تهاجمی تاکنون متاثر از چه برنامه‌هایی بوده است؟ به نظر می‌رسد استراتژی ایالات‌متحده در حوزه سیاست‌گذاری خارجی بعد از طرح بین‌الملل گرایی تهاجمی با تاسی از راهبرد کلان، هدف نهایی و غایی خود را تثبیت موقعیت و هژمونی جهانی تدوین نموده است. اما برنامه‌ریزی و سیاست روسای جمهور (بوش، اوباما، ترامپ) برای تثبیت این موقعیت و هژمونی بکار گرفتن ایده‌های مختلف از یکدیگر بوده است (یک‌جانبه‌گرایی، چندجانبه گرایی، عمل‌گرایی). یعنی در واقع هدف یکی است اما راه‌های رسیدن به آن متفاوت خواهد بود. اهمیت و ضرورت انجام پژوهش نیز واکاوی برنامه‌های سیاست خارجی ایالات‌متحده در سه دوره‌ی ریاست جمهوری جرج بوش، باراک اوباما و دونالد ترامپ برای تثبیت موقعیت هژمونی جهانی خود در سطح نظام بین‌الملل به‌عنوان هژمون برتر می‌باشد.
