درنگی بر معنایِ واژۀ لبلاب

واژۀ «لبلاب» در فرهنگ‌های لغتِ فارسی به دو معنا آمده است. فرهنگ‌نویسان یکی از معانیِ این واژه را «عزائم‌خوان و افسونگر» ذکر کرده‌اند. با نگاهی به شواهد شعری دریافت می‌شود که معنایِ ارائه‌شدۀ فرهنگ‌نویسان در موردِ اخیر درست نبوده و آن‌ها به‌دلیلِ دریافتِ نادرست از معنایِ ابیاتی که این واژه در آن‌ها به‌کار رفته است، این معنا را برای لبلاب ثبت کرده‌اند. نگارندگان مقالۀ حاضر پس از ذکر فرهنگ‌هایی که به معنایِ واژۀ لبلاب پرداخته‌اند، با آوردن شواهد شعری و بررسی و تحلیل آن‌ها، معنایِ پیشنهادیِ خود را دربارۀ هریک از ابیات مورد بحث مطرح کرده و در پایان معنی درستِ واژۀ لبلاب را بیان کرده‌اند. نگارندگان اثبات کرده‌اند که لبلاب در شواهدِ شعری مورد بحث، در معنای گوی جادوگری به‌کار رفته است و نه افسونگر. همچنین با رجوع به فرهنگ‌های لغتِ عربی و کتب امثال و حِکَم نشان داده شده است که این اشتباه صورت‌گرفته احتمالاً از جانب فرهنگ‌نویسان فارسی به فارسی بوده و در لغت‌نامه‌های عربی لبلاب در معنای افسونگر نیامده است.

a debate on the meaning of the word lablab

the word lablab has two meanings in persian dictionaries. one of the meanings of this word is “the ivy plant” and the other meaning is the enchanter and the sorcerer. by looking at the poetic evidence, it can be seen that the meaning presented by the lexicographers in the latter case was not correct and they registered this meaning due to their misunderstanding of the meaning of the verses in which this word is used. the authors of the present article, after mentioning the dictionaries that have discussed the meaning of the word lablab, by bringing poetic evidences and examining and analyzing them, put forward their proposed meaning about each of the discussed verses, and, at the end, the correct meaning of the word lablab has been expressed. the authors have proved that lablab in the discussed poetic evidence is used in the meaning of magician’s orb and not enchanter. also, by referring to arabic dictionaries and books of apothegm, it has been shown that this mistake was probably made by the persian-to-persian lexicographers and lablab did not appear in arabic dictionaries in the meaning of enchanter.
