The effect of educational intervention based on BASNEF model on the students' oral health

Prevention and hygiene has been always preferred to treatment. in this regard, one of the most effective strategies would be investing and paying attention to the health education and knowledge in the schools. poor oral health may have a bad effect on the children's performance in the school as well as their success during the life. so the present study was aimed to evaluate the effect of training intervention based on basnef modelon the prevention and control of oral health among secondary male students. this research was a semi-experimental study including 80 students who were divided randomly in to experimental and control groups (each 40 people) in 2013 through multistage sampling method in bandar abbas. data collection tool was a questionnaire based on basnef model. training intervention was done based on basnef structures within 6 training sessions. then the obtained data from the questionnaire were analyzed by independent t-test, paired t-test, mcnemar and chi-square tests and described through descriptive statistics. the research findings showed that the mean score of knowledge and related structures of basnef model is significantly different between the experimental and control groups in the area of doing health behavior after intervention (p<0.001). according to the findings of this research, the educational intervention based on basnef model can cause health behavior among the students with a coordinated and proper structure in addition to promoting their knowledge and attitude.
