چکیده

Eight new coordination compounds of mn(iii) with (e)-2-((3-(benzyloxypyridinylimino) methyl)-4-bromophenol (l1), (e)-2-((3-(benzyloxypyridinylimino) methyl)-4-chlorophenol (l2), (e)-2-((3-(benzyloxypyridinylimino) methyl)-6-methoxyphenol (l3) and (e)-2-((3-(bezyloxypyridinylimino) methyl)-4-bromo-6-methoxyphenol (l4) have been synthesized in two different ratio such as 1:2 ratio [metal: ligands (l1–l4)] and using 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) as an auxiliary ligand for 1:1:1 ratio [ligands (l1–l4): metal: phen]. newly prepared mn(iii) complexes are well characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic moment, molar conductance, 1h and 13c nmr, electronic absorption, infrared spectra, mass and tga methods. the complexes having distorted octahedral geometry with n, o as donor site from schiff base and n, n bestowed from the neutral ligand phenanthroline. the synthesized ligands and their mn(iii) complexes were subjected for antimicrobial assay. the ligands l1–l4 and all complexes (c1–c8) are proclaimed competent antimicrobial activities. the interaction of c1–c8 complexes with calf thymus dna (ct-dna) was ascertained by absorption titration, fluorescence spectra and viscosity measurements. results have recommended that complexes bind to ct-dna via an intercalative mode. the interaction of these synthesized complexes with bsa was also investigated using various spectroscopic techniques. static mode of interactions was suggested for bsa binding with the complexes.
