   effect of metal ion type on the structure and optical properties of coordination polymers of 1,2,3,4-tetra-(4-pyridyl)-butane

چکیده    Two new coordination polymers have been prepared from 1,2,3,4-tetra-(4-pyridyl)-butane (tpb) with pb(ii) and cd(ii) ions, [pb2(no3)6(och3)2(tpb-2h)2]n (1) {[cd(tpb)(h2o)2](no3)2(h2o)4(ch3oh)2} n (2), and structurally characterized. the crystal structure analyses of prepared compounds showed that metal ion type has an essential role in their crystal structure and coordination type of tpb ligand. in compound 1, the tpb ligand by accepting a linear bridging mode leads to the formation of a 1d chain. compound 2 displays a 2d infinite layer framework connected by tpb, which acts as a four connector. the study of thermal behavior of prepared compounds showed that structure and metal ion type of coordination compounds are influential on their thermal stability. the investigation of optical properties of compounds demonstrated that the altering of metal ion type in the structure of coordination compounds can be used to tune their photophysical properties.
