مساله «من» در نگاه گلن استراوسن

یکی از مباحث مطرح در فلسفه ذهن بحث از «من» است که فلاسفه با تعابیر مختلف خود، هویت شخصی، نفس و روح از آن یاد کرده‌اند. نظریات متفاوت فلاسفه درباره هستی و حتی چیستیِ این مفهومِ به نظر ساده و بدیهی، آن را به یک مسئله فلسفی تبدیل نموده است. استراوسن فیلسوفی فیزیکالیست است که با تعبیر«خود» به این مسئله پرداخته است. وی از یک سو قائل به وجود «من ‌تجربی» است؛ اما از سوی دیگر، ویژگی‌هایی چون استمرار، شخصیت و عاملیت را منکر شده است. درحالی که به نظر می رسد این مولفه ها، ویژگی‌هایی اساسی برای معنای «من» می‌باشند. نوشتار حاضر با روش تحلیلیانتقادی سعی می‌کند از بستر تحلیل مولفه‌های مفهوم «من» مورد نظر استراوسن، به این سوال بپردازد که وی چگونه با عدم پذیرش این سه ویژگی، وجود «من» را باورکرده است. در این راستا، ابتدا دیدگاه استراوسن درباره ماهیت و وجود «من» تحلیل شده و پس از ارزیابی دیدگاه او این نتیجه حاصل می‌شود، که حذف این سه ویژگی ناشی از نقاط ضعفی چون اتخاذ مبنای فیزیکالیستی، رویکرد تجربه‌گرایی و روش پدیدارشناسانه و نگاه ذهنی صر‌ف به «من»، نیز خلط دو مقام ثبوت و اثبات و ضعف در تبیین ویژگی وحدت درطول زمان است.

The Problem I in Galen Strawson

One of the topics in the philosophy of mind is the discussion of &I&, which philosophers have referred to in various interpretations as &The self&, &personal identity&, &ego&, &soul& and &spirit&. Philosophers’ different theories about the existence and even the nature of this seemingly simple and obvious have turned it into a philosophical problem. Galen Strawson is a physicalist who has addressed this issue by interpreting “The self”. On the one hand, he believes in the existence of the &empirical self&, but on the other hand, he denies such qualities as Longterm persistence, personality, and agency, which seem to be essential to the meaning of the &I&. The present paper tries to address, by an analythicalcritical method, the question of how Strawson believed in the existence of the &I& despite the nonacceptance of these three characteristics. In this regard, first Strawson’s view on the nature and existence of the &I& is analyzed, and after evaluating his view, it is concluded that the elimination of these three characteristics is due to weaknesses such as adopting a physicalist basis, a phenomenological method, and a purely mental view of the &I&, confusion of the two positions of Truth and proof and his weakness in explaining the nature of unity over time.
