بازخوانی انتقادی دیدگاه جان داناهیو دربارۀ علل سیاسی تثبیت آل ‌بویۀ عراق

ظهور قدرتی ناهمگون با ساختار قدرت خلافت در اوایل سدۀ چهارم قمری، دوره‌ای با ویژگی‌های منحصربه‌ فرد را برای تاریخ اسلام رقم زد. سلسلۀ آل‌بویۀ شاخۀ عراق با خصوصیاتی که برای بخش بزرگی از جامعۀ تحت امرش بیگانه می‌نمود، با پیگیری سیاست‌هایی هوشمندانه، و با استفاده از شرایط خاص حاکم بر قلمرو خلافت، توانست برای بیش از یک سده بر دستگاه خلافت مسلّط شود و تاثیر به‌سزایی بر جنبه‌های مختلف تمدن اسلامی، ازجمله تشکیلات حکومتی و پیشرفت علوم، به‌ویژه علوم دینی شیعی برجای گذارد. بازخوانی انتقادی دلایل سیاسی پایداری این سلطۀ غیرقابل پیش‌بینی، از دیدگاه جان داناهیو موضوع این پژوهش است. داناهیو علی رغم برشمردن برخی از دلایل مرتبط با ویژگی‌های ذاتی و سیاست‌های اعمال‌شده از سوی آل‌بویه، بیشتر بر شرایط خاص حاکم بر قلمرو خلافت، مقارن با به‌ قدرت رسیدن آن ها تاکید می‌کند. در این پژوهش سعی شده است، ضمن مقایسۀ انتقادی آراء مکتوب داناهیوبا منابع نخستین و رجوع به پژوهش‌های متاخر، دیدگاه‌های متفاوتی ارائه شود. در این پژوهش مشخص شده است، تثبیت حکومت آل‌بویه باوجود ناکامی حکومت‌هایی همچون زیاریان در سلطه بر خلافت، بیش از هر چیز به خصوصیات ذاتی و سیاست‌های اعمال‌شده از سوی آن ها مربوط است.

critical review of john donohue’s perspective on political reasons for the establishment of the buwayhids in iraq

the emergence of a power structure unequal with the power of caliphate in the beginning of the fourth century a.h./10th century a.d. marked a distinctive era in the history of islam. the buwayhids in iraq managed to dominate the caliphate for more than a century with characteristics that seemed foreign to a great majority of the population under its rule, and by means of following shrewd policies and taking advantage of the special conditions prevailing in the domain of caliphate at the time. the dynasty exerted significant influence upon various aspects of the islamic civilization, including administrative institutions and scientific advancements, especially in shīʿī religious sciences. this study critically revisits john j. donohue’s views vis-à-vis the political reasons behind such unpredictable domination. despite enumerating some reasons related to the essential characteristics and policies implemented by the buwayhids, donohue mainly emphasizes the specific conditions of the caliphal territory at the time of their rise to power. this paper has attempted to offer alternative views by critically comparing donohue’s perspectives with some primary sources and recent scholarship. the stability of the buwayhids, despite the failures of governments like the zīyārīds, is mostly attributed to their inherent characteristics and implemented policies.
