مروری بر کاربرد مفهوم نامتناهی بالفعل در برهان جهان‌شناختی کلامی

یکی از موضوعاتی که ریاضیات و فلسفه را به یکدیگر پیوند داده است، مسئله «بعد نامتناهی» است. ویلیام کریگ، فیلسوف و متکلم آمریکایی سعی کرده است، با توسل به ریاضیات، عدم تحقق حوادث نامتناهی در عالم و حدوث زمانی جهان را اثبات نماید. وی نام برهان خود را برهان جهان‌شناختی کلامی می‌گذارد و در تقریر آن از برهان حدوث غزالی بهره می‌جوید. هدف این مقاله، بررسی یکی از دلایل فلسفی کریگ در اثبات مقدمه دوم این برهان در پی پاسخ‌گویی به این سوال است: آیا این دلیل فلسفی ریاضی کارایی لازم را در جهت اثبات حدوث زمانی عالم دارد؟ تحقیق حاضر با رویکردی توصیفیانتقادی، دلیل اول از مقدمه دوم برهان کریگ را که دربردارنده مباحث نامتناهی بالفعل و نظریه مجموعه‌ها است، تبیین و سپس با تکیه بر آرای متفکران اسلامی ارزیابی می‌کند.یافته‌های پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که اثبات حدوث زمانی عالم از طریق عدم امکان سیر قهقرایی رویدادهای جهان، شرایط تسلسل محال را ندارد و نمی‌توان نامتناهی بودن آن را انکار کرد و از آن‌جا که عدد را نمی‌توان به مجموعه نامتناهی نسبت داد؛ سخن از تعداد اعضای یک مجموعه نامتناهی، معنایی ندارد و از فرض وجود بعد نامتناهی حتی نامتناهی بالفعل تناقضی حاصل نمی‌آید و به همین دلیل، اغلب فلاسفه اسلامی، حدوث زمانی عالم را نپذیرفته‌اند.

An overview of the Application of Actual Infinity Concept in Kalam Cosmological Argument

One of the subjects that link mathematics and philosophy is the &infinite dimension&. William Craig, an American philosopher and theologian, has attempted to prove through mathematics the nonrealization of infinite events in the world and thus proves the temporality of the universe. Describing this argument as a Kalam cosmological argument, he draws on AlGhazali’s Huduth (temporality) argument. The purpose of this article is to examine one of the philosophical reasons set forth by Craig in proving the second premise of this argument in a bid to answer this question: “Is this philosophicalmathematical reasoning capable of proving the temporality of the universe?” The present study, with a descriptiveanalytical approach, elaborates on the first reason proposed for the second preamble of Craig’s argument, which deals with the actual infinity debates and set theory, and then embarks on evaluating the views of Islamic thinkers.The findings of the research suggest that temporality argument, due to the impossibility of the deteriorating order of events in the world, does not meet the contiguity conditions, and therefore fails to contradict its infinity. Moreover, since a number cannot be attributed to an infinite set, it is impossible to determine the members of an infinite set. That is, the assumption of an infinite dimension, even actual infinity, does not produce contradiction. For this reason, most Islamic philosophers have been reluctant to subscribe to the universe temporality argument.
