Several lines of evidence indicate that implicit information can be utilized inthe absence of explicit knowledge. this phenomenon has been shown for visual information. in this study this effect is presented for auditory semantic information in cva patients whose native language is persian. the study involved one cva patient (ha) with auditory associative agnosia as compared with four cva patients with cortical lesions and six normal subjects . they were assessed on one semantic and one asemantic recognition task . ha showed auditory oassociative agnosia based on the type of errors insemantic recognition task. but he performed well above chance level as compared with other patients in a semantictask. utilizing semantic information in the absence of its explicit knowledge in auditory domain is supportive for the presen ceof different neural systems for explicit and implicit knowledge as proposed in other modalities and cognitive functions . the results have important implications forauditory rehabilitation procedures in cvapatients.
