Use and risks of pesticides in sanitary protection of spearmint in south-central Morocco [Utilisation et risques des pesticides en protection sanitaire de la menthe verte dans le Centre-Sud du Maroc]

To determinate the status of pesticide use on spearmint in south-central morocco,a survey near 74 farmers was undertaken in the wilaya of meknès-tafilalt. in three regions among seven,the farmers don't use pesticides on mint. in four other regions,13 active ingredients of insecticides and 11 fungicides belonging to different chemical groups are applied as different formulations against pests associated withthe crop. in toxicity terms and,according to who,the pesticides used are graded as very to least dangerous. in respect of the low technical level of farmers,the use of pesticides in pest control on mint exposes consumers,growers and environment to acute and chronic hazard.
