Mesological and biotypological study of mayflies populating in abdi wadi (Algeria) [Etude mésologique et biotypologique du peuplement des ephéméroptères de l'oued abdi (Algerie)]

To contribute to the knowledge and to the preservation of the faunistic biodiversity of the humid zones of the massif of aurès,a faunistic study of the mayflies was begun since january 2008 at january 2010 on 5 stations of the abdi wadi,one of the most important wadis of the saharian atlas (82,19 km in length). this study allowed to analyze the longitudinal and transverse distribution of mayflies following an east-west transect going on the wilayates of batna and biskra. the obtained results,allowed us to raise the first faunistic inventory of this populating. we counted 4 families of mayflies: it acts baetidae,caenidae,heptageniidae and leptophlebiidae. the baetidae is characterized by a large spatiotemporal distribution; they constitute the most abundant and most diversified family with 6 species,of which baetis pavidus is the most represented. to evaluate the water quality of the water of abdi wadi,physico-chemical analyzes were realized and demonstrated a high hardness,an average to low alkalinity and moderate pollution due to the rejections of neighboring agglomerations.
