|
Water extract of fenugreek seeds (fse) were assessed for its corrosion inhibitory activity on aluminium (al) in 1.0 m hydrochloric acid (hcl) solution. the inhibitive effect of fenugreek extract was studied using gravimetric,galvanostatic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. the resultsshow that presence of fse reduces the corrosion rate of al due to the action of phytochemical constituents such as trigonelline and vitexin present in it,as obtained from liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (lc-ms) analysis. the corrosion process was inhibited by the adsorption of extract molecules over metal surface and was found to follow langmuir adsorption isotherm.
