Pomological study of dates of some date palm varieties cultivated in Figuig oasis

Researchers have carried out several studies on the physio-chemical and biochemical analysis of various date palm species in an attempt to characterize and classify the dates according to their physical,chemical biochemical characteristics. in morocco,similar studies were undertaken with the specific goal of determining and analyzing the dates' physical,chemical,biochemical and biological make up,but without characterization or classification. in this study,researchers characterized and evaluated the varieties of dates most cultivated in figuig oasis by carrying out physico-chemical and biochemical analyses. the results made it possible to characterize these varieties according to characters. thus,one could distinguish the date species into the following groups: large gauge (mejhoul,nejda and assiane),the ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions (aziza bouzid,assiane,boufegousgharas and afroukhntijant),the oldest or have been around figuig the longest (aziza manzou and taâbdount),those composed of cane sugar (aziza bouzid and assiane) and those composed of reversed sugars (mejhoul,afroukhntijant,nejda,boufegous,boufegousgharas,aziza manzou and taâbdount).
