Synthesis of new phenolics products from R-(-)-carvone and the study of their impacts on some fungal decay of apple in post-harvest

In this study,we were interested,first,in the synthesis of new phenolics compounds from a natural substance r-(-)- carvone and second,the study their impact on the mycelial growth of the three fungal strains (penicillium expansum,alternaria sp and rhizopus stolonifer),isolated from rotten apples in post-harvest. these diphenolcs compounds are obtained by condensation of the r-(-)-carvone with arylaldehyde in the presence of p-toluene sulfonic acid and reflux during 24h. the structures of these new compounds were identified by the usual spectral methods 1h,13c nmr and ir. furthermore,an x-ray cristalographic study was carried out on the single crystal of the product 2,2'-dimethyl-5,5'- dipropan-2-yl-4,4'-(phenylmethylene)diphenol 3a.
