Integrating environmental factors in the suppliers assessment using analytic hierarchy process as a decision making tool

Green production has become an important factor in recent years influencing the sustainability of the manufacturing sector. with increasing concern toward environmental protection,it has been found from the literature that the green supplier selection is one of the approaches in solving environmental related issues. supplier selection is a multi-criteria decision making problem involving both qualitative and quantitative criteria. in this study,analytic hierarch process (ahp) method is used to compute the relative weights for each criterion and to determine the best supplier according to the overall aggregating score of each supplier. the effectiveness of the ahp model is illustrated using a case study in a textile manufacturing company in the southern part of india.
