|
The effect of triazolotriazepinon (tat) on the corrosion of carbon steel (c35) in 1 m hcl is studied by the potentiodynamic polarization and impedance spectroscopy (eis) measurements. the experimental results reveal that (tat) has a good inhibiting effect on the metal tested in 1 m hcl solution. the protection efficiency increases with increasing inhibitor concentration to attain 84% at 10-3m but decreased with temperature. activation parameters and gibbs free energy for the adsorption process were calculated and discussed. potentiodynamic polarization curves indicated that the (tat) derivative is a mixed-type inhibitor. impedance measurements showed that the double layer capacitance decrease and charge-transfer resistance increase with increase in the inhibitor concentration. adsorption of inhibitor on the steel surface in 1.0 m hcl follows the langmuir isotherm model. the quantum chemical calculations is performed at the density functional theory (dft) level using b3lyp functional with the 6-31g (d).
