Study of municipal waste filed in uncontrolled landfill [Etude des déchets urbains déposés dans une ancienne décharge non contrôlée]

Landfilling has been widely practiced as the cheapest solution to municipal solid waste problems. however,few studies have been interested to evaluate waste disposal sites after closing. this work concerns the oldest portion of the municipal landfill in agadir city. samples of urban refuse were taken at different depths in landfill. the earthy fraction was analyzed. many physico-chemical parameters including ph,salinity,total nitrogen,organic matter and some heavy metals were determined. the organic product percentage is 52% and 80% of it passed through 2mm. volatile organic materials average is 14% and total nitrogen is 0.4% of dry matter. nevertheless,the high concentration of some metallic elements and the greatest amount of soluble salts poses a problem to the rehabilitation of this area.
