Physico-chemical and bacteriological characterization groundwater of Tangier [Caractérisation physico-chimique et bactériologique des eaux souterraines de Tanger]

In morocco drinking water has made remarkable progress since almost all of the urban population has been supplied by drinking water. however,rural areas and some urban areas are not,and still feed on wells and springs water whose composition and safety are unknown. consequently the risk of poisoning is extremely common and serious [1]. given the lack of data on the composition and safety of this class of water,we conducted a study to determine the physico-chemical and bacteriological quality of some urban areas with old or missing infrastructures in some sites in the province of tangier. such as ziatine,gzenaya,rmilate,malabata + mnar,mghoura + aouama and downtown [2]. the obtained results provided the first description of the composition and conditions of water pollution in the studied sites. the analyzis are performed according to afnor methods [3] and the obtained results show that these waters are generally fresh and are experiencing significant geochemical imbalance. moreover,these waters also have a significant organic and bacteriological pollution. we conclude that the waters of the studied sites have poor quality or even unfit for human consumption.
