چکیده    The work includes an exhaustive study on the reduction of sulfur dioxide gas via a novel selective amine based absorber in order to show the optimum process and reaction kinetics as well. experimental studies were conducted in a pilot plant aiming to reduce so_2 in a mixture of flue gas with the emphasis on the kinetics of the process and final released so_2 emission by obtaining the optimal process condition. sulfur dioxide was reduced from 4000-8000ppm to an amount of less than 10 ppm in the outlet of the pilot. during the scrubbing process, so_2 absorption was performed in atmospheric pressure and a temperature between 52 to 73 degrees celsius. various flow rates were implemented to reach an effective performance of the pilot process. a highly efficient process was obtained based on experimental results in a long operational time in comparison with the commercial solvents. finally, the reaction kinetics between so_2 and amine-based solution were measured over a range of temperatures from 40°c to 60 °c with the concentrations of so_2 ranging between 2500 ppm 850 ppm and the results shows a first order reaction between the absorbent and so_2 was determined.
