Determination of the maximum content of heavy metals in the phosphogypsum [Détermination de la teneur maximale des métaux lourds dans le phosphogypse]

In order to valorize the phosphogypsum for used in the treatment of industrial liquid effluents,the first part of our research concerns the determination of the maximum level of heavy metals that can adsorb phosphogypsum from the wet process. the different metal ions pb (ii),cu (ii) and zn (ii) were substituted for ca (ii) ions by varying their contents of 5 to 50% by mass percentage. then,monitoring of the insertion of these heavy metals in the phosphogypsum has been done in characterizing different samples by x-ray and ir spectroscopy. the results show that exchange properties of metal ions are related to the adsorption capacity according to the nature of the metal and the limit of insertion of the metal cations in the resulting phosphogypsum is limited to 30%.
