Lead-containing gla ss borosili cate was synthes ized by sol-gel technique usingmetalalkoxids such as tetra ethyleorthosilicate (teos) . al- sec-butoxide and trimethyl borate. thesol containing teos converts to gel durin g drop wise addition ofai-alkoxide while inorganic leadsalt was added in the last stage ofge lation to prepare the alcogels. the specimens were dried atroom temperature to set then heated at 600 °c qui ckly to avoid crystallization preparing a gla sscontaining 63 wt% lead oxide. the influence ofph on absorption behavior of the sols studied byuv visible technique so the characteristic of the ge l, alcogel and xe roge l were studied in thedifferent acidi c concentrations. the uv spectrums show that the high er the acidity of thehydrolysis stages, the high er the absorbance. the results showed the sample with 63 wt% lead wasfound fully amorphous. microstructure and phase analysis of the g lass po wders were investigatedby x-ray diffraction (xrd). x-ray fluorescence (xrf) and scanning electron microscopy (sem)equipped with eds analysis.
