Volatile components of Pimpinella tragium Viii. from Iran

Volatile components of three parts of pimpinella tragium viii. (umbelliferae fam ily) fromiran were investigated qualitatively and quantitatively for the first time.essential oils were isolated by hydro-distillation from stems plus leaves , inflorescence andseed s of p tragium individually. the plant materials were coll ected from polour (northeas t oftehran province).the yie lds of the stems plus leaves, inflorescence and seed oils were 0.08%, 0.37%and 1.33%w/w, respecti vely. eighteen constituents in the stems plus leaves oil, twentysixconstituents in the inflo rescence oil and twenty-three constituents in the seed oil wereidentifi ed.major constituents of the stems plus leaves oil were: germ acrene d (34.7% ), germ acreneb (18.3%), born yl acetate (15 .8%), p-caryophyllene (5.6%) and p-pinene (4.5%). majorconstituents of the inflorescence oil were: p-pinene (23.8%), germ acrene b (14.1%),hexadecanol (10.3 %), ~-caryophyllene (7.3%), germacrene d (6.2%) and bornyl acetate(4.1%)_ main components of the seed oil were : p-pin ene (25 .3%), germ acrene b ( 17.8%),sab inene ( 13.6%), p-caryophyllene (4.8%) and hexadecanol (4 .7%).
