بررسی نگاه انتقادی ناتسومه سوسه‌کی به فرایند مدرنیزاسیون ژاپن در رساله‌ی تجدد ژاپن امروز و رمان کوکورو

مقاله‌ی حاضر به بررسی دیدگاه انتقادآمیز ناتسومه سوسه‌کی نویسنده و متفکر ژاپنی به فرایند مدرن شدن جامعه ژاپن در زمان حیات او یعنی در نیمه‌ی دوم قرن نوزدهم و اوایل قرن بیستم می‌پردازد. برای بررسی نگاه این نویسنده ‌، دو اثر وی انتخاب شدند که یکی (رساله‌ی تجدد ژاپن امروز) به آثار غیرداستانی او و دیگری (رمان کوکورو) به آثار داستانی او تعلق دارند. دلیل این انتخاب آن بود که ناتسومه در اثر غیرداستانی‌اش نگاه خود را به مدرنیزاسیون به‌صورت کلی و در قالب مباحث نظری طبقه‌بندی و بیان می‌کند، اما از آوردن مثال‌های ملموس برای نظرات خود پرهیز می‌کند. از سوی دیگر در رمان کوکورو پیامد‌های این مدرنیزاسیون را در زندگی مردم ژاپن به شکل عینی، ملموس و عملی در قالب وقایع داستان به تصویر می‌کشد. از همین رو این دو اثر در انعکاس افکار ناتسومه راجع به تقابل مدرنیته و سنت مانند مکمل عمل می‌کنند. بررسی این دو اثر نشان داد که ناتسومه اولاً به مدرنیته در معنای عام بدبین است و معتقد است مدرنیته نتوانسته ذره‌ای از آلام بشر را تسکین دهد و زندگی بشر حتی دشوارتر از پیش شده است. ثانیاً مدرنیته‌ی کشور ژاپن را امری وارداتی، عاریتی، غیربومی و غیرطبیعی می‌داند که این مدرنیته‌ی وارداتی و پرشتاب موجب تغییر قراردادهای اجتماعی نظیر روابط انسان‌ها با یکدیگر، آداب و رسوم ازدواج و نظام آموزش و پرورش شده و با دگرگون کردن ناگهانی شیوه‌ی زندگی سنتی، پیامدهایی نظیر مادی‌گرایی، ازخودبیگانگی، بدبینی، انزوا، بی‌اعتمادی، خودخواهی، ناامیدی و احساس گناه برای مردم جامعه به بار آورده است.
