چهره بستن شاه طهماسب اول در ذهنیت عامه بر اساس قصه‌ای از مردم خراسان:

ادبیات عامه دربردارنده نوعی تجربه، تخیل، آگاهی، آرزوها،ناکامی ها و دردها و به طور کلی ذهنیتی است که در بین عامه راجع به گذشته، اکنون و آینده وجود داشته است. چنین بستری برای پژوهشگرانی که در پی فهم عمیق تر کنش عامه در تاریخ و برداشت آنها از عناصر و مقولات تاریخند، بسیار مهم می نمایاند. در اینجا بر اساس منابع مختلف تاریخی و با محوریت قصه ای عامیانه از مردم خراسان برهم کنش زمینه تاریخی و متن قصه مذکور مورد مطالعه قرار گرفته است. روش پژوهش پیش رو بر پایه توصیف و تحلیل تاریخی و بازشناسی عناصر گفتمانی عصر شاه طهماسب از منابع این دوره و از دل قصه منتخب استوار شده است و کار بر پایه کنکاش راجع به بهره گیری از جنبه های برجسته چهره این شاه صفوی در جهت پدیداری یک روایت فرهنگی گسترده یا گفتمان سازی پیش می رود. در این قصه که متعلق به مردم خراسان است شاه طهماسب با جریانی شگرف و جادویی در لباس درویشی از شاهی به مسکنت و فقر می رسد و برخوردار از حمایت خدا و ائمه شیعه است، او سپس به لباس بازرگانی درمی آید و سرانجام به پادشاهی بازمی گردد. آنچه در این قصه راجع به او ذکر شده درکنار پاره ای از اعتقادات و باورهای مذهبی و غیر آن تا حدود بسیاری در راستای همان تصویری است که در واقعیت تاریخی شاه طهماسب تلاش بر آن داشته که از چهره اش ترسیم شود و این قصه به طرزی کامیابی نسبی شاه را در این زمینه بیان می کند.

folk literature encompasses a form of experience, imagination, awareness, aspirations, failures, and sorrows, and generally, a mentality that exists among the masses regarding their time, past, or future. such a context appears highly significant for researchers seeking a deeper understanding of the masses’ historical actions and perceptions of historical elements and concepts. this is because official historiographies rarely discuss the people and their narratives of different conditions, and if there is any mention, it either endorses the actions of the elite or outright criticizes and rejects the reactions of the masses. in fact, giving voice to the people from the depths of history and reinterpreting their role through the study of their literature—folk literature—can shed light on their presence in the darkness of history and unveil their influential role in past life. therefore, in this study, an in-depth analysis and understanding of the shared discursive elements between the elite and the lower classes within the society and culture of the safavid era are undertaken through the lens of historical texts from this period and a central folktale from the people of khorasan regarding shah tahmasb i. the aim is to elucidate the construction of public consciousness in that era and the efforts of the political institution—headed by the shah—in light of the recognized cultural elements enshrined in the official discourse. the main research question is: how does the selected folktale express the historical and lived reality of the era of shah tahmasb i, and how does it unveil the specific discourse formation of this period in the construction of public consciousness?
