تبیین انگارۀ تاریخی برنارد لوئیس در ارتباط با نظریۀ خاورمیانۀ جدید

برنارد لوئیس از مستشرقین و نظریه‌پردازان متاخر در زمینۀ تاریخ جوامع اسلامی است که کتب و مقالات بسیاری در این زمینه به رشتۀ تحریر در آورده است. وی با مطالعۀ جامع تاریخ اسلام به این نتیجه می‌رسد که باید وحدت امت اسلام را از بین برده و کشورهای بزرگ خاورمیانه را به کشورهای کوچک‌تر که قدرت کمتری داشته و در خدمت منافع غربیان باشند تجزیه نمود. طرحی که در میان اهل تحقیق به نظریۀ خاورمیانۀ جدید شهرت یافته است. در این پژوهش تمامی آثار مکتوب و شفاهی لوئیس مورد واکاوی قرارگرفته است. یافته‌های پژوهش نشان می‌دهد وی با دو راهکار غربی‌سازی و تجزیۀ خاورمیانه بر اساس شاخص‌های مورد قبول غربیان از جمله میهن‌پرستی و دموکراسی و نیز فراهم کردن شرایط استقرار و قدرت‌گیری اسرائیل و یهودیان در خاورمیانه قصد تجزیۀ منطقه و ایجاد توازن قوا در بین کشورهای مختلف و حتی ادیان اسلام، یهود و مسیحیت را دارد. در این راستا برنارد لوئیس پیشنهاد می‌کند کشورهای غربی و به ویژه آمریکا باید در جهت سرنگونی و کاهش نفوذ هژمونی‌های داخلی و خارجی در منطقه از جمله شوروی، ایران، عراق و ... بکوشند. او این نظریه را در ابتدا با روش‌های تاریخ نگارانه طرح کرده و در اواخر عمر خود با بیانی تند و گزنده کشورهای غربی را به جنگ و ایجاد آشوب در منطقه و تقابل با امت اسلامی ترغیب می‌نماید.

an analysis of bernard lewis’s historical notion of the new middle east

bernard lewis was a contemporary orientalist and a theorist in the field of history of islam. he has authored many books and articles on this subject. studying the history of islam, he concludes that the unity of the islamic society must be destroyed and the great countries of the middle east must be divided into smaller countries that have less power and serve the interests of the west. this has become known as the new middle east theory among researchers. in this study, all of lewis’s written and oral works are analyzed. the results of this research show that he intends to create a balance of power between the countries and even between islam, judaism and christianity by adopting two strategies: westernization and disintegration of the middle east based on the accepted characteristics of westerners such as patriotism and democracy. in this regard, he proposes that western countries, especially the united states, should try to overthrow and reduce the influence of domestic and foreign hegemonies in the region, including russia, iran, and iraq. he initially proposed this theory using historiographical methods, but towards the end of his life encouraged western countries to wage war and create chaos in the region and to confront the islamic society.
