بررسی اهمیت بهداشت عمومی در موافقتنامه های سازمان تجارت جهانی

با توجه به اینکه سلامت جامعه بشری امری بسیار مهم است و از طرف دیگر تجارت آزاد نیز، فواید انکارناپذیری دارد، باید بین آزادی تجارت و تامین سلامت جامعه تعادل وجود داشته باشد تا مردم از فواید هر دو بهره مند گردند؛ بنابراین برای به حداقل رساندن تعارضهای احتمالی بین تجارت و بهداشت و به حداکثر رساندن منافع ناشی از آنها، نیاز به تعامل بیشتر بین سیاست گذاران تجاری و بهداشتی در راستای آگاهی متقابل در مورد سیاست گذاریهای طرفین و همین طور ایجاد اصولی مدون برای حمایت از هردوی آنها، در کنار یکدیگر است. در این مقاله سعی بر این است موافقتنامه های مهم و بنیادین سازمان تجارت جهانی بررسی و میزان اهمیتی که بهداشت و سلامت عمومی برای سازمان تجارت جهانی دارد، مورد ارزیابی قرار گیرد. با توجه به بررسی صورت گرفته به نظر می رسد، سازمان تجارت جهانی سعی کرده است در عین حال که اصول و اهداف خود نظیر تجارت آزاد و اصل عدم تبعیض را رعایت می کند، به سلامت و بهداشت عمومی جوامع نیز توجه کند و در موافقتنامه های خود شرایطی را قرار داده است تا در صورت ضرورت، کشورها بتوانند با محدود کردن تجارت آزاد از سلامت و بهداشت عمومی جوامع خود محفاظت کنند.
