بررسی چگونگی بازتاب جنگ بدر در متون مستشرقان انگلیسی‌زبان دورۀ ویکتوریایی

انگارۀ اسلام دین شمشیر، در جهان امروز معتقدان فراوانی دارد. بخش زیادی از فرایند تولید این انگاره، با اهمیتی که نویسندگان سده‌‌های نخستین اسلامی به غزوات رسول اکرم(ص) دادند، در سیرۀ پیامبر(ص) برجسته‌سازی شد و بخش دیگر را کسانی بازتولید کردند که یا به عمد یا به اشتباه و به‌دلیل دانش ناقص و نداشتن رویکرد انتقادی از این منابع بهرۀ نادرست بردند. جنگ بدر به‌عنوان مهم‌‌ترین غزوۀ رسول اکرم(ص)، داده‌‌ای بود که در این فرایند به‌صورت چشمگیری استفاده شد و بررسی چگونگی این بهره‌برداری می‌‌تواند از اثر بعضاً تخریبی ایستارهای نادرست بکاهد. از آنجا که نخستین متون تولیدشدۀ مستشرقان که با اطلاع زیاد از منابع اسلامی و بهرۀ ارزشمند از آن، در عصر استعمار نگاشته شده است، پس برای گام نخست، بررسی شکل استفادۀ ایشان از غزوۀ بدر برای به تصویر کشیدن شخصیت رسول اکرم(ص) می‌‌تواند اقدامی مفید برای شناخت فرایند تولید انگارۀ خشونت‌طلبی دربارۀ نبی اکرم باشد. این نویسندگان در جهت اثبات ایستارهای خویش از اسلام و حضرت محمد(ص)، بعضی از وقایع را برجسته‌سازی کردند و بعضی دیگر را به حاشیه راندند؛ بنابراین بررسی این نوع عملکرد در این متون می‌‌تواند اهمیت شایان‌توجهی داشته باشد.
