ممیزات و نوآوری‌های تاریخ‌نویسی عبدالحسین خاتون‌آبادی در عرصۀ تاریخ‌نگاری ایران صفوی

عبدالحسین خاتون‌آبادی نویسندۀ وقایع‌السنین و الاعوام در تاریخ‌نگاری خود روش یا روش‌هایی را به‌ کار برده  است که با شیوۀ دیگر همتایان تاریخ‌نگار خود تا اندازه‌ای دیگرگونه است. او از یک‌سو در گزینش موضوع‌های تاریخی دست خود را بسیار باز گذاشته و برخلاف بیشتر مورخان ایرانی در چارچوب مسائل سیاسی گرفتار نشده است. نیز در پاره‌ای نمونه‌ها پای خود را از دایرۀ جهان اسلام بیرون نهاده و به برخی رخدادهای مهم قارۀ اروپا نیز پرداخته است که در نوع خود کم‌مانند است؛ از سوی دیگر روش نگارش تاریخ نزد او تا حد بسیاری، مستند است. او برخلاف بیشتر همتایان تاریخ‌نگار خود، کوشیده است گزارش‌های خود را حتی‌الامکان به منبع یا منابعی مستند کند. پیامد چنین رویکردی بهره‌بردن از منابع گوناگون در نگارش وقایع‌السنین است. به گونه‌ای که کمتر اثر تاریخی در جهانِ تاریخ‌نگاری سنتی ایرانی می‌توان یافت که تا این اندازه از منابع پرشمار و همچنین گوناگون بهره برده باشد. این ویژگی‌ها سبب می‌شود تا بتوان روش تاریخ‌نگاری خاتون‌آبادی را روشی ممتاز و متمایز نسبت‌به بیشتر تاریخ‌نگاران ایرانی سده‌های نزدیک به او به شمار آورد. کیفیت این تمایزات مسئله‌ای است که می‌تواند مدنظر محقق امروزی قرار گیرد و با تجزیه و تحلیل آن به شناخت جنبه‌ای دیگر از تاریخ‌نگاری ایرانی منجر شود.

Abdolhossein Khatoon Abadi’s Historiography and its Differences and Innovations

Abdolhossein Khatoon Abadi has created a completely "general" history in the writing of the Vaghaye’ alSenin va alA’vam, which is not only in terms of public time but also in terms of subject matter. In addition, cultural issues have also been taken into consideration. Because of this, his book can be an important source for the history and culture of Iran and Islam. He has tried to talk documentary in this way. Because of the widespread and diverse subject matter of his book, he has been forced to take advantage of many and varied sources. Hence, unlike most Iranian and Muslim authors of general histories of the Middle Ages and the new centuries, he has used many sources. At least sixty books are clearly identified throughout his work as the source of his information. In addition, he has paid attention to documents, inscriptions and oral reports. All of this brings him apart from other colleagues. In addition, for today’s scholar it is clear that in Safavid Iran, and before the advent of the printing industry in Iran, the abundance and variety of books that could have been available to a typical writer.
