Dna Banking of Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders in Iran

Primary immunodeficiency disorders are aheterogeneous group of genetic disorders, with differentmodes of inheritance, consisting of more than 100different types. we constructed the dna banking ofprimary immunodeficiency disorders for the first time iniran. the dna of 31 immunodeficient patients and theirfamilies (total of 92 samples) were collected, as the firststep for construction of dna banking. dna wasisolated from whole blood by salting out method. amongour patients, common variable immunodeficiency wasthe most common disorder, followed by x-linkedagammaglobulinemia, ataxia-telangiectasia, chronicgranulomatous disease, severe combinedimmunodeficiency, hyper igm syndromes, andleukocyte adhesion defects. dna banking is a usefulmethod for further detection of mutation inimmunodeficient patients and prenatal diagnosis forpresence or absence of the disorder in the fetus whichcan be confirmed by molecular genetics testing.
