The rol e of chlrlllrydia p neullloniae in asthma has drawnmuch attention in rece n t years. in this study we assessedthe prevalence of c.p lielli!jlilliae infections in patients withchronic stab le and acute exacerbation of asthma an dcompared it with normal population. twen ty adultpatien ts with ch ronic stable asthma and 21 pa tien ts wi thac ute exacerbations o f asthma and 41 matched controlsubjects were studie d for presen ce o f c. pnetlll10niae usingce ll culture. t his study suggests that p ositive resu lts o f c.pneumoniae culture are associa ted with both chronic stableand acute exace rba tio n o f asthma. it could be concludedthat c.pnenmoniae is a risk factor for either development o rexacerbation of asthma. asthma; chlallq,dia pneumonia; culture
