risk of endometrial, ovarian, and breast cancers in women with polycystic ovary syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background: although several studies have evaluated the risk of gynecological cancers in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos), there are controversies regarding it. objective: this study aimed to investigate the association of pcos with endometrial, ovarian, and breast cancers. materials and methods: pubmed, scopus, web of science, and google scholar databases based on mesh terms using the combination of the appropriate keywords were searched to retrieve observational studies on endometrial, ovarian, and breast cancers in pcos women, published from inception to april 2020. this meta-analysis was performed to determine the pooled odds ratio (or) of these cancers in women with pcos. publication bias was assessed by using begg’s test.results: of 1347 records retrieved by searching the databases, a total of 14 articles were included in the study. overall, the pooled or of the composite outcome, including endometrial, ovarian, and breast cancers in women with pcos was higher than that of women with no pcos (pooled or: 1.4, 95% ci: 1.0-1.9). the pooled or of endometrial (pooled or: 2.2, 95% ci: 1.03-4.7) and ovarian (pooled or: 1.3, 95% ci: 1.0-1.8) cancers in women with pcos was higher than the control group, whereas the pooled or of breast cancer was not significantly higher than that of the control group. conclusion: this meta-analysis indicated an increased risk of endometrial and ovarian cancers in women with pcos.

خطر سرطان های آندومتر، تخمدان و پستان در زنان مبتلا به سندرم تخمدان پلی کیستیک: یک مرور سیستماتیک و متاآنالیز

مقدمه: اگرچه مطالعات متعددی خطر ابتلا به سرطان­های زنان را در بیماران مبتلا به سندرم تخمدان پلی­کیستیک (pcos) ارزیابی نموده­اند، لیکن همچنان در مورد خطر ابتلا به این سرطان­ها اختلاف نظر وجود دارد.هدف: این مطالعه با هدف بررسی ارتباط pcos با سرطان­های آندومتر، تخمدان و پستان انجام شد.مواد و روش­ها: پایگاه‌های اطلاعاتی pubmed، scopus، web of science و google scholar بر اساس اصطلاحات mesh با استفاده از ترکیب کلمات کلیدی مناسب برای بازیابی مطالعات مشاهده‌ای در مورد سرطان‌های آندومتر، تخمدان و پستان در زنان مبتلا به pcos، که از ابتدا تا آوریل 2020 منتشر شده بودند، جستجو شدند. این متاآنالیز برای تعیین نسبت شانس تجمعی (or) این سرطان­ها در بیماران pcos انجام شد. سوگیری انتشار با استفاده از آزمون بگ ارزیابی شد.نتایج: از 1347 مقاله بازیابی شده از طریق جستجو در پایگاه‌های اطلاعاتی، در مجموع 14 مقاله برای این مطالعه بررسی شدند. به­طور­کلی، نسبت شانس تجمعی پیامد مرکب شامل سرطان­های پاندومتر، تخمدان و پستان در زنان مبتلا به pcos بیشتر از زنان غیر pcos بود (نسبت شانس تجمعی: 4/1؛ فاصله 95% اطمینان: 9/1-1). نسبت شانس تجمعی سرطان آندومتر (نسبت شانس تجمعی: 2/2؛ فاصله 95% اطمینان: 7/4-03/1) و تخمدان (نسبت شانس تجمعی: 3/1؛ فاصله 95% اطمینان: 8/1-1)در در زنان مبتلا به pcos بالاتر از گروه کنترل بود، در حالی که نسبت شانس ابتلا به سرطان پستان به طور معنی­داری بالاتر از گروه کنترل نبود.نتیجه­گیری: این متاآنالیز نشان‌دهنده افزایش خطر ابتلا به سرطان‌های آندومتر و تخمدان در بیماران مبتلا به pcos بود.
