combination of electroacupuncture and pharmacological treatment improves insulin resistance in women with polycystic ovary syndrome: double-blind randomized clinical trial

Background: acupuncture is a nonpharmacological treatment which has been known to improve ovulatory function in polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos) women. acupuncture modulates the somatic and autonomic nervous systems, which regulate endocrine and metabolic functions to impact ovulatory functions. objective: to investigate the effectiveness of electroacupuncture (ea) and pharmacological combination therapy on improving insulin resistance in women with pcos.materials and methods: this double-blind, randomized clinical trial was performed on 44 participants from march to september 2018 at cipto mangunkusumo national hospital, jakarta, indonesia. participants were randomly allocated to treatment (true ea + medication) and control group (sham ea + medication) in a 1:1 ratio using a web-based computer random-number generator. randomization was carried out by an independent project manager. both groups received 12 sessions of acupuncture therapy and metformin as pharmacological therapy.results: this study showed a significant decrease in the homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance index in the true ea + medication group before and after therapy (p = 0.014).conclusions: the combination of ea and pharmacological therapy effectively improves insulin sensitivity in women with pcos.

ترکیب طب سوزنی الکتریکی و درمان دارویی باعث بهبود مقاومت به انسولین در زنان مبتلا به سندرم تخمدان پلی کیستیک می شود: کارآزمایی بالینی تصادفی دوسوکور

مقدمه: طب سوزنی درمانی غیردارویی است که برای بهبود عملکرد تخمک گذاری در زنان مبتلا به سندرم تخمدان پلی کیستیک (PCOS) شناخته می شود. طب سوزنی با تعدیل سیستم عصبی سوماتیک و خودمختار، باعث تنظیم عملکرد غدد درون ریز و متابولیک شده و بر عملکرد تخمک گذاری تأثیر می گذارد.هدف: بررسی اثربخشی طب سوزنی الکتریکی (EA) و درمان ترکیبی دارویی بر بهبود مقاومت به انسولین در زنان مبتلا به PCOS.مواد و روش ها: این کارآزمایی بالینی تصادفی دوسوکور بر روی 44 داوطلب از مارس تا سپتامبر 2018 در بیمارستان ملی Cipto Mangunkusumo، جاکارتا، اندونزی انجام شد. شرکت‌کنندگان به‌طور تصادفی به دو گروه درمان (طب سوزنی الکتریکی واقعی به همراه درمان دارویی +EA) و گروه کنترل (طب سوزنی الکتریکی غیرواقعی به همراه درمان دارویی EA) با استفاده از یک مولد اعداد تصادفی رایانه‌ای مبتنی بر وب به نسبت 1:1 تقسیم شدند. تصادفی سازی توسط یک مدیر پروژه مستقل انجام شد. هر دو گروه 12 جلسه درمان طب سوزنی و متفورمین به عنوان درمان دارویی دریافت کردند.نتایج: این مطالعه کاهش معنی‌داری را در ارزیابی مدل هومیوستاتیک برای شاخص مقاومت به انسولین در گروه دارو EA + واقعی قبل و بعد از درمان نشان داد (014/0 = p).نتیجه گیری: ترکیب EA و درمان دارویی به طور مؤثری حساسیت به انسولین را در زنان مبتلا به PCOS بهبود می بخشد.
