Vitamin D Deficiency in Young Females with Musculoskeletal Complaints in Urmia, Northwest of Iran

Vitamin d (vit d) deficiency is determined by serum 25-0hd.several studies revealed high prevalence of vit d deficiencyin females of the asian sunny countries. 162 femalesreferred to urmia orthopedic clinics, with bone and musclepain with the ages 15 up to 40 yrs participated in the study. theindividuals were not pregnant, lactating, with no systemic orneurological diseases during the course of the study. from theserum level of 25-0h-d it was found that 57% were severelyvit d deficient (25-0h-d(less than)1 0 ng/ml), 25% were mildly vit ddeficient (25-0h-d=10-20 ng/rnl) and only 18% were normal(25-0h-d(greater than)20 ng/ml), the results of this study revealed thatinadequate exposure to sunlight was the main cause of vitamind deficiency.
