Pulmonary Actinomycosis Mimicking Lung Cancer

Herein, we reported on a case of so lid type of pulmonary actinomycosisin a 10-year -o ld boy. he had productive coughfor 40 days. bronchoscopy was normal. cmputed tomographyrevealed a so lid large mass in the upper lobe of his left lungwith mimick ing mal ignant leis ions. he was referred for surgeryand underwent left upper lobectomy. macroscopically,the specimen measured 13x9 x5 ern and was creamy to whitishon cut section. microscopic find ings included a large numberof inflamma tory ce lls and colonies of actinomyces. pulmonaryactinomycosis should be included in the differential diagnosesof pulmonary mass lesions, especially in the young adult s.
