Free Perforation of Sigmoid Colon Secondary to Invasive Mucormycosis in a Critically III Patient

Mucormycosis is a clinical entity attributed to opportunisticfungal infection of order mucoral es. this includes severalpathogenic subtypes . it commonly affects the rhinocerebralsites and the immunocompromized patients with devastatingresults. visceral mucormycosis is a relatively rare complication.we report the first free sigmoid colon perforation secondaryto invasive mucormycosis and discuss the risk factors,methods of diagnosis, and pathogenesis of this clinical entity .
