Sporotrichoid Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in Central Iran

More than 90% of patients infected with cutaneous leishmaniasislive in afghanistan, the middle east, algeria, brazil, andperu. cutaneous leishmaniasis in iran is caused by leishmaniatropica and leishmania major. most skin lesions evolvefrom papular to nodular, to ulcerative form with a central depressionsurrounded by a raised indurate border. some lesionspersist as nodules or plaques. multiple primary lesions, satellitelesion, regional adenopathy and sporotrichoid subcutaneousnodules are variably present. this report presents an 18yr-old man with sporotrichoid cutaneous leishmaniasis that isnot common in the central iran.
