چکیده
|
Glycation is a protein modification, which results in a change ina protein structure. glycation is believed to be the etiology ofvarious age-related diseases such as diabetes mellitus and alzheimer’sdisease (ad). activation of microglia and residentmacrophages in the brain by glycated proteins with subsequentoxidative stress and cytokine release may be an important factorin the progression of ad. it is also suggested that interactionbetween an advanced glycation end product (age) and its receptor(rage) results in glial activation as well as cytokinerelease and reactive oxygen species release. the use of antioxidants, receptor mediated compounds and reactive oxygen speciesscavenging enzyme produce an opportunity to intervenewith age-rage signaling pathway, and thereby to slow downthe progression of aging-related diseases
