چکیده    The essential oils of the aerial parts of three different artemisia species (a.scoparia, a. diffusa, a. turanica) growing wildly in the northeast of iran wereanalyzed by gc-ms. twenty-two, twenty-six, and thirteen components wereidentified in the essential oils of these plants, respectivey. the major constituentsof the oil of a. scoparia were â-pinene (16.1%), carvacrol (13.8%), limonene (8.8%),cis-ocimene (8.4%), methyl eugenol (7.6%) and trans-ocimene (7.2%). camphor(25.5%), 1,8-cineol (25.0%), â-thujone (22.0%), and ل-thujone (6.0%) were themajor components identified in the volatile oil of a. diffusa. the main identifiedcompounds in the volatile oil of a. turanica were 1,8-cineol (40.9%), cis-verbenylacetate (19.0%) and camphor (11.0%). the identified components and theirpercentages in the essential oil of three different artimisia species in this study werequite different. since the chemical composition of the oil depends on variousenvironmental conditions, therefore, these differences can be expected.
