Thespesia populnea extract attenuates thermal hyperalgesia in diabetic mouse model of Neuropathic Pain

|
Diabetic neuropathy is one of the most common microvascular complications in type-ii diabetes. the present study was planned to investigate the effects of ethanolic extract of thespesia populnea (tp) in streptozotocin-induced hyperalgesic symptoms in diabetic animals. mice were subjected to tail immersion,hot plate-induced hyperalgesia assay,plasma glucose and serum nitrate levels were estimated. tp treated animals showed a significant decrease in plasma glucose (p<0.01),serum nitrite (p<0.01) level and a significant increase in the % of maximum possible effect (p<0.01). these results indicate an anti-nociceptive activity of tp in diabetic mice possibly mediated through its inhibitory action on nitrite radicals and glycemic control offered by tp.
