   Detection of icaAD Gene and Biofilm Formation in Staphylococcus aureus Isolates from Wound Infections

چکیده    Wound infections are a common cause of staphylococcal infections. an ability of saureus is to adhere and form biofilm onhost surfac es . bio film is an exopolysaccharide, a slime matrix around mult iple layers of cells and is mediated by expressionof the ieaadbc operon. the present study evaluated the biofilm forming capac ity and the presence of icaad gene amongsiaureus isol ated from wound infections. slime production assay was performed by cultiva tion on congo red agar plate . inaddition, quantitative biofilm formation determined by microtiter plate assay pcr method used for detection of icaadgene. fifty strains were identified, 54% of the isolates produced black colonies on cra plate , 52% were positive biofilmforming, and all strains carried the icaad gene. reg arding the ability of siaureus to form biofilms helps the bacterium tosurvive hostile environments within the host, suggests that biofilm production is a risk factor for infection. it is important inrapid diagno sis and treatment biofilm forming strains, because biofilm form ation may lead to increased antimicrobial resistanceand create a significant impediment to wound healin g.
