Spontaneous ovarian hyperstimulation in pregnant women with hypothyroidism

S pontaneous hyperstimulations syndromehad been reported in womenwith hypothyroidism, and polycysticovary syndrome. this report describesa case in which a naturally conceivedpregnancy was associated with spontaneousovarian hyper stimulation and hypothyroidism.t-iwe treated our case by levothyroxine. within 2weeks a remarkable improvement was observed,with resolution of ascites and decrease in serumtsh level. the hormonal tests for thyroid functionwere normal 3 months after treatment.pregnancy was allowed to proceed under closematernal and fetal surveiilance.the mother's progress was then followed atnormal antenatal check-ups and no serious complicationsdeveloped. ten weeks after deliveryovarian cysts regressed completely. thyroidhormone replacement seems to be the besttherapeutic approach, but in some patients thecomplete resolution of the ovarian cysts does nottake place after being euthyroid.
