چکیده    He incidence of type 2 diabetes is on t the rise and along with this increasethere is a growing interest in the efficacyof antioxidant vitamin therapy inthe treatment of this malady.materials and methods: in this case-controlstudy, the levels of antioxidant vitamins retinol,a-tocopherol and ascorbic acid were measuredwith hplc and colorimetric method, in plasmaand mononuclear leukocytes of patients with diagnosedtype 2 diabetes(n=62).results: we observed significantly lower ascorbicacid levels in mononuclear leukocytes in ourstudy group when compared to controls.conclusion: while these results are not definitive,we believe they do indicate that furtherstudies are needed to include a larger segment ofthe population and an evaluation of dietary intakesand habits.
