In the present study, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-d) wasassessed individually for its effectiveness to induce somatic embryogenesis intea (camellia sinenesis l.). embryonic axes and cotyledons explants were dissectedfrom the seeds. explants were cultured on murashige and skoog (ms)medium containing 0, 1 and 5 ?m 2,4-d alone for embryonic axes and 0, 1and 5 ?m 2,4-d along with 0 and 0.5 ?m iba for cotyledons. embryos wereobserved in embryonic axes explants cultured on ms medium containing 1?m 2,4-d. no somatic embryos were seen on cotyledons explants.
