THE MANUSCRIPTS OF AL-JAWHARAH AL-MUNĪFAH: AN INTRODUCTION AND ANALYSIS OF MĀTURIDI’S THEOLOGICAL THOUGHT

This paper aims to explore an important work on commentary of waṣiyyah abī ḥanīfah by mullā ḥusayn bin iskandar al-ḥanafī. the waṣiyyah abī ḥanīfah was known as one of the greatest and earliest treatise in ‘aqīdah. this great work of mullā ḥusayn comprised a compact and comprehensive discussion that summarized previous commentaries by other scholars. this work also clearly and perfectly explained the thoughts of al-imam abū ḥanīfa on basic issues of ‘aqīdah ahl al-sunnah wa al-jamā‘ah. it discussed the topic of īmān and ‘amal, ma‘rifat allah as well as al-sam‘iyyāt. it is hoped that this study will introduce this great work namely al-jawharah al-munīfah to researchers as an important treatise in explaining the ‘aqīdah ahl al-sunnah wa al-jamā‘ah from al- māturidī’s scholars.
