The Self-esteem of Teenagers Who Are Involved in Free Sexual Relations

This case study aims to explore the issue free sex which is adultery and involved six teenagers who are the inmate at rehabilitation centre. two research questions were based on the issues; first is how teens assess self esteem? second is how the teenagers develop their self-esteem? qualitative data collected by using in-depth interviews and self-reflection statements are used. content analysis based ontranscription of interviews to determine the themes, categories and subteam. nvivo 8 software used in managing qualitative data for each of the themes found. the result shows all six teenagers involved in sex before marriage with their boyfriends. the perception of self esteem was low. teennagers failed to give an accurate definition for the concept of self-esteem. the findings of this study showed that teenagers are aware of love to themsevlve and family members after becoming trainees in rehabilitation centre. moral values such as prayer, respecting parents are considered a significant value to build self esteem as well as continue to learn self control and discipline. implications and recommendations this study covers the role of the family institution, the role of the ministry of education, theories and suggestions for the role of counsellors, and ministry of women, family and community development to integrate the approach of handling the isues of adolesceces involve with free sex. recommendations for future research are discussed in order to focus on exploring the recovery and preventive intervention psychoeducation in various dimensions to address the problem of youth involved in the sex before marraige.
