Language Politeness Application and the Translation Strategy in the Ulama’ al- Muslimin Animation

Animation is the entertainment medium closest to the community, especially children. however, the use of language in animation is often disputed as being seen to be inaccessible to the aspect of language politeness. therefore, this study would like to discuss the language politeness application through the maxim of leech politeness in the ulamā al muslimīn animation as well as the translation strategy used in translating the subtitles. qualitative studies were used in this study focusing on content analysis and literature study. to analyze the translation strategy used in the subtitle, the study chose to use the newmark (1998) translation strategy. the study finds that all data obeys the linguistic maximization maxim. some expressions and words that become the markers of language politeness can be identified and given the exact match. the subtitle translation results are also found to maintain the aspect of language politeness as found in the source language.
