This is an editorial for an article entitled diagnosis of latent tb infection in candidates for kidney transplantation (1). on may 2, 2005, a new in vitro test, quanti- feron^®-tb gold (qft-g, cellestis limited, carnegie, victoria, australia), received final approval from the u.s. food and drug administration as an aid for diagnosing mycobacterium tuberculosis infection (2).
