تبیین کارکرد اجتماعی بهداشتی سلفدان: اثر تاریخی در موزه جواهرات ملی

زمینه و هدف: سِلفدان ظرفی است که برای انداختن آب دهان، دماغ و اخلاط سینه در طول تاریخ توسط اشخاص مختلف مورد استفاده قرار می‌گرفته است. در حال حاضر، به دلیل عدم آگاهی عموم جامعه نسبت به پیشینه تاریخی، کارکرد اجتماعی و بهداشتی سلفدان، نگاه منفی نسبت به این اثر شکل گرفته و از آن به مثابه یک شئ غیر بهداشتی یاد می‌شود که اشخاص کاهل و تنبل در جامعه از آن استفاده می‌کنند. به دلیل همین نگاه منفی و کلیشه‌ای نسبت به سلفدان، تا مدت‌ها در موزه جواهرات ملی بانک مرکزی جمهوری اسلامی ایران، متصدیان خزانه جواهرات از توضیح این اثر به بازدیدکنندگان اجتناب می‌ورزیدند و حتی نام این اثر را به اشتباه تلفظ می‌کردند.روش: جستار حاضر با رویکرد توصیفی تحلیلی و روش کتابخانه‌ای و اسنادی و با تکیه بر «نظریه مرکزی» نوربرت الیاس نگاشته شده است.ملاحظات اخلاقی: در مطالعه پیش رو، جنبه‌های اخلاقی مطالعه کتابخانه‌ای، اصالت متون، صداقت و امانتداری رعایت شده است.یافته‌ها: این مقاله درصدد است نگاه کلیشه‌ای نسبت به سلفدان مبنی بر اینکه شئ‌ایی غیر بهداشتی و تنها مختص به شاهان و طبقات ممتاز بوده است را به چالش بکشد و این فرضیه را مطرح سازد که در گذشته ابتدا به خاطر حفظ شوونات اجتماعی و نزاکت شخصی و سپس به منظور پرهیز از شیوع بیماری‌های واگیردار از سلفدان استفاده می‌شده است. سوال اصلی تحقیق این است که چرا در عصر کنونی نسبت به سلفدان، علیرغم کارکرد اجتماعی و بهداشتی آن در طول تاریخ، نگاه منفی شکل گرفته است؟ همچنین با تکیه بر منابع دست اول تاریخی و اسناد منتشرنشده موجود در موزه جواهرات ملی به تصحیح صورت آوایی و الفبایی این اثر تاریخی موزه‌ای می‌پردازد.نتیجه‌گیری: برخلاف نگاه کلیشه‌ای نسبت به کارکرد منفی سلفدان، این شئ در گذشته بیشتر کارکردی اجتماعی بهداشتی داشته و با توجه به شیوع بیماری‌های واگیردار نظیر سل و به منظور رعایت هنجارهای اجتماعی برای جلوگیری از انداختن آب دهان ابتدا در دربار و سپس در جامعه استفاده می‌شده است.

explaining the socio-health function of spittoon; a historical work in thenational jewerly museum

background and aim: spittoon is a container utilized by different people for spitting, nose blowingand dropping mucus throughout history. at present, due to the lack of public’s awareness about thehistorical background of social and health function of spittoon, a negative view has been formedtoward this work and it is called as an unhygienic object that is often used by lazy people in thesociety, because of this negative view, curators of the jewelry treasury refused to explain this objectto visitors and even mispronounced its name for a long time.methods: the present article, written with a descriptive-analytical approach and a library anddocumentary method, seeks to challenge this stereotype based on norbert elias's central theory.ethical considerations: in the present study, the ethical aspects of library study including originalityof texts, honesty and fidelity have been observed.results: this article aims to challenge the stereotypical view of spitton, that it was an unhygienicobject and was only reserved for kings and privileged classes, and present the hypothesis that in thepast, first for maintaining social affairs and personal decency, and then in order to avoid the spread ofinfectious diseases, it has been used. the main question of this research is: why is there a negativeview of spitton in the current era, despite its social and health function throughout history? also,based on first-hand historical sources and unpublished documents available in the national jewelrymuseum, it corrects the phonetic and alphabetic form of this historical-museum work.conclusion: contrary to the stereotypical view of the negative function of spitton, in the past thisobject had more of a social-health function and was used first in the court and then in the society toprevent drooling due to the spread of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and also in order tocomply with social norms.
