|
The purpose of this paper is to present a literature review of the studies done on online shopping based on the papers published in lsi web of science and scopus. 661 articles listed in lsi web of science from 2001 to 2011 and 801 articles listed in scopus from 1986 to january 2012 were examined. the findings showed that not only the science and computer aspect of this phenomenon is imrortant, but also the social sciences aspect of it is equally and even more important. they could be classified into 12 categories of subject, most notably the business and management, computer science, engineering, and social sciences areas of online shopping have obtained more attention of the researchers. changes of the research on online shopping over time, country distribution, active institutions, and the most influential works have been analyzed and discussed. the results have given a clear image of the academic investigation on online shopping over the last two decades and formulate some direction for where the future research should focus on.
