مروری انتقادی بر نظریات هستی شناسانه مصنوعات تکنیکی

مسئله هستی‌ شناسی مصنوعات تکنیکی این است که چه چیزی باعث می‌شود یک شیء به‌عنوان یک مصنوع تکنیکی لحاظ شود. از آنجا که مصنوع تکنیکی کارکردی را برای کاربران محقق می‌کند، اغلب نظریات با تحلیل مفهوم کارکرد به بررسی هستی مصنوعات پرداخته‌اند. دسته‌ای از نظریات با توجه به ساختار فیزیکی مصنوع و نقش علی که در ایفای کارکرد دارد، به تبیین هستی مصنوعات پرداخته‌اند، برخی دیگر بر مقاصد عامل‌ها در طراحی و کاربرد مصنوعات تاکید کرد‌ه‌اند و کارکرد را همان قصد عامل تلقی کرده‌اند. برخی نیز تطور یک مصنوع یعنی تاریخچه انتخاب و بازتولید یک مصنوع را در هستی آن موثر دانسته‌اند.با توجه به نواقص نظریه‌هایِ نقش علی، قصدی و تطوری، تلاش‌هایی برای ارایۀ نظریه‌های ترکیبی صورت گرفته است. ما در این مقاله ضمن مرور مهم‌ترین نظریات هستی‌شناسی مصنوعات تکنیکی، از رهگذر نقد و بررسی آن‌ها توضیح می‌دهیم که یک نظریه هستی‌شناختی مناسب برای مصنوعات باید به چه مسائلی پاسخ دهد.

a critical review of ontological theories of technical artifacts

the ontological problem of technical artifacts is: what makes an object count as a technical artifact? most theories have investigated the ontology of artifacts in terms of ‘function’. a group of these theories has highlighted the physical structure of the artifact because of its causal role in realizing the function; others, taking ‘function’ and ‘intention’ the same, have emphasized agents’ intention in the design and use of artifacts. some have considered the evolution of artifacts, their history of selection and reproduction, to be effective in the constitution of their ontology. due to the shortcomings of causal, intentional, and evolutionary theories, attempts have been made to present hybrid theories. this paper, along with an overview and evaluation of the most important theories of the ontology of technical artifacts, aims to spell out the problems which any adequate ontology of artifacts needs to answer.
